| CAROL REESE, Glorious Gardens: Gone But Not Forgotten |
Extension Area Specialist in Ornamental Horticulture, UT West Tennessee Research and Education Station in Jackson, TN
Join Carol as she takes us through some special gardens, some of which no longer exist. Hinkley's Heronswood, for example and Tom Hobb's and Brent Beatty's "jewelbox garden". We continue to be inspired while reminded that these stunning works of art are ephemeral, and perhaps even more beautiful because of their temporary nature. |

| VINCE DOOLEY, Vince Dooley's Garden - A Horticultural Journey of a Football Coach |
Former Head Coach and Athletic Director of the University of Georgia Bulldogs and now avid master gardener.
The Mid-South Hydrangea Society and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens will host coaching legend Vince Dooley, who will share highlights of his transition from the gridiron to gardening in his presentation, "Vince Dooley's Garden - A Horticultural Journey of a Football Coach." This is also the topic of his new book to be published this spring.
Coach Dooley's passion for gardening began about 15 years ago when he started auditing classes with renowned UGA Horticulture professors, Michael Dirr and Alan Armitage. Since then he has developed a mini-botanical garden on his 2.5 acre property and leased an additional 3 acres from his neighbor to accommodate his ever expanding plant collection. The densely planted all-seasons garden has an exceptionally diverse collection of Japanese maples, camellias, azaleas, viburnums, hydrangeas and more.
As one of the winningest coaches in NCAA history, Coach Dooley has racked up an impressive list of honors. Most recently he was named the 2010 recipient of the Paul "Bear" Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award. Also in the news, his son, Derek Dooley, was just named head football coach at the University of Tennessee. As a testament to his horticultural status, Coach Dooley has been honored with a hydrangea, rose and camellia bearing his name. You won't want to miss this entertaining and informative morning with Coach Vince Dooley.
Time: Program begins at 10:00am with book signing from 11:00am until noon.
Cost: $20 for Mid-South Hydrangea Society or Dixon members, $30 for non-members.
Note: Seating is limited to 200. For advance registration, call the Dixon at 761-5250.
